Frequently Asked Questions

Everything people ask us before their first (or fiftieth) dive in the Gilis — equipment, courses, ages, health and getting here.

Ask us anything

The questions below cover most of what people want to know. If yours isn’t here, WhatsApp us — we answer fast, and no question is too basic. Everyone on our team once asked “do the tanks float?” too.

Frequently asked questions

What equipment do I need to bring for my first dive?

All necessary equipment is provided by us. Just come prepared with swimwear, sunscreen (reef-safe please) and a towel.

How long does it take to get certified?

Our Open Water Course typically takes 2–3 days, including theory, confined-water training and four ocean dives. A 2-day option exists if you've done the e-learning beforehand.

Are there age restrictions for scuba diving?

Children as young as 10 can start with the Junior Open Water Diver course. Minors need parental consent.

Can I dive if I don't know how to swim?

Basic swimming ability matters for certification courses (200 m swim plus a 10-minute float), but you don't need to be an expert — and try dives are more forgiving still.

What requirements are needed before diving?

A medical questionnaire is required. If anything on it flags, you may need a doctor's sign-off — get this before you travel if you can.

Can I fly after diving?

Leave at least 18 hours between your last dive and a flight — plan your boat back to Bali or Lombok accordingly.

Do you cater to certified divers from other agencies?

Of course — PADI, SSI, or any recognised agency. Bring your certification card or app.

What's the water like in the Gilis?

Warm (around 28°C) year-round, generally calm mornings, and visibility that regularly hits 20 m+. A 3mm shorty or rash guard is plenty.

Will I see turtles?

The Gilis are one of the most reliable turtle destinations anywhere. Green and hawksbill turtles live on these reefs year-round.

How much do courses cost?

Try Dive Rp 1.350.000 (€65), Refresh Rp 1.150.000 (€56), Open Water Rp 6.900.000 (€336), Advanced Rp 5.900.000 (€288), Master Rescue Rp 6.900.000 (€336). Fun dives from Rp 512.000 per dive in a 10-dive package. Message us on WhatsApp for payment options.
