Prerequisites Required Before Diving

Age

Adult: 15+ years
Junior: 12–14 years
Cadet: 10–11 years
Note: Those under 18 require parental/guardian consent.

Swimming Skills

Swim: 200 m (any stroke, no time limit) or 300 m with mask, snorkel, and fins.
Float: Tread water or survival float for 10 minutes.

Medical & Administrative

Medical: Complete a health questionnaire. If you flag any "Yes" answers, you need a doctor's signature before entering the water.
Registration: Create a RAID online profile to access materials.

Academics

E-Learning: Complete all online modules and quizzes.
Exam: Pass the final exam (open book, 80% minimum score required).

Learn Open Water Diving in Gili Trawangan in 2–3 Days

The La Bombona Diving dive school

8:30 am Theory Session 1

You'll meet your instructor and other students — we keep groups small, so you'll always feel supported. Your instructor will give you a lesson covering the most important theory you need to know about diving.

12:30 pm Lunch Break

We'll take a break until 1:30 to relax and recharge our energy — and chat with your new dive buddies.

2:30 pm Confined Water Session

You'll take your first breaths beneath the surface in shallow, confined water, where you'll learn the most important skills with your instructor so you gain confidence before going deeper. We keep going until you've got them down — no clock-watching.

Our dive boat is spacious, comfortable, and designed with divers in mind. It offers a smooth ride, space to gear up with ease, and a chill area to relax between dives. With the Gilis' sites just 10–20 minutes away, it makes your diving day smoother, more social, and a lot more enjoyable.

For your first dive, all necessary equipment is provided by us. Just come prepared with swimwear and a sense of adventure!

How long does it take to get certified?

Our Open Water Course typically takes 2–3 days. Comfortable in the water and ahead on your e-learning? Ask about the 2-day schedule — our instructors adjust the pace to you.

Are there age restrictions for scuba diving?

While there are age limitations for certain courses, children as young as 10 can start with the Junior Open Water Diver course. Safety is our priority, and we tailor programs to suit different age groups.

What if I find that the course isn't the right fit for me midway through?

If you discover that the course isn't aligning with your preferences midway, we're flexible and can discuss options to ensure your experience suits your needs.

Can I dive if I don't know how to swim?

While basic swimming skills are important, you don't need to be an expert. Our instructors provide buoyancy control and water confidence training to ensure you feel comfortable in the underwater environment.

What requirements are needed before diving?
